Betway is one of the most established names in Ghanaian online betting. The local platform went live in 2016, so 2026 is its tenth year in the country, and the brand has built a physical presence too, with walk-in customer experience centres in Osu, Takoradi and Sunyani. For a punter who mainly follows the English Premier League, the Ghana Premier League and the Black Stars, it covers the essentials well: deep football markets, live betting, flexible cash out and mobile money banking.

Is Betway legit and licensed in Ghana?
Yes. Betway appears on the Gaming Commission of Ghana's list of licensed operators in two categories, sports betting and online casino, with licences issued on 1 January 2026 and running to the end of the year. The app store listings name Sports Betting Group Ghana Ltd, with an address in Adabraka, Accra, as the licensee. The licence reference shown in our facts box is Sports Betting Group Ghana Ltd; Gaming Commission of Ghana licences GCSB23H3146M (sports betting) and GCCA23W1149G (casino); compare it with the footer of the Betway site before you register, because copycat pages rarely carry a real licence statement.
A licence matters for practical reasons. It means the operator answers to a Ghanaian regulator under the Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721), must keep under-18s out and must offer responsible gambling tools. Betway football betting and live markets
Football is the core of the Betway sportsbook in Ghana. The EPL gets the deepest coverage, as you would expect, but Ghana Premier League fixtures, Champions League nights and international matches involving the Black Stars are on the menu too. Kick-off times show in Ghana time, which is GMT all year, so a 3 pm Saturday match in England starts at 3 pm in Accra during the UK winter and at 2 pm during British summer time.
Betway live betting runs alongside the pre-match board. The in-play page updates odds during the match, and cash out is offered on many open bets. According to the app store description, cash out comes in three forms:
- Full cash out - settle the whole bet early at the offered value.
- Partial cash out - take part of the value and let the rest ride.
- Auto cash out - set a value in advance and let the system settle when the offer reaches it.
Cash out is not always available. It can be suspended during a dangerous attack, after a goal or on certain markets, so treat it as a tool rather than a promise.
Betting tools worth knowing
- Build a Bet combines several outcomes from one fixture, for example a result, both teams to score and a card market, into a single bet.
- Smart Picks loads the favourites from a list of fixtures into the betslip in one tap. Handy, but favourites lose too, so check every line before you stake.
- Win Boost adds a percentage to the winnings of multi bets with two or more qualifying legs, growing as you add legs priced at 1.2 or higher.
- Bet Saver, launched in October 2024, can return part of the stake on a multi bet even when some selections lose.
The Betway jackpot was relaunched in 2024 under the Mega Picks name, where you build your own entry from a set of fixtures. Betway odds and how to compare them
We do not publish a fixed margin for Betway because odds move constantly and vary by league and market.
