HT/FT Predictions

Half time full time picks with the reasoning, a table of all nine outcomes and a plain look at why reversals pay so much.

By , Editor, football tips, NLA lotto and bookmaker reviewsUpdated

No prediction is ever sure. Tips here are opinions built on form and statistics, so treat them as research, not a promise. 18+.

Our HT FT prediction picks call two results in one bet: who leads (or whether it is level) at half time, and who wins at full time. The feed below lists today's half time full time selections with the price we saw and the reason. Because you must be right twice, HT/FT pays far more than a plain match result and loses far more often, so we keep stakes small and picks few.

Tips are opinions based on form and statistics, never guarantees. Stake only what you can afford to lose. 18+.

Each pick is written in the usual short form, for example "X/1" (level at the break, home win at the end), with kick-off in GMT and the odds when posted. Some days the feed is empty; that means no fixture offered a fair enough price.

The nine HT/FT outcomes

Every match ends in exactly one of nine combinations. Bookmakers in Ghana show them under "Half Time/Full Time" or "HT/FT", using 1 for the home side, X for a draw and 2 for the away side.

CodeHalf timeFull timeHow often it tends to happen
1/1Home leadsHome winsCommon when a strong home side starts fast
X/1LevelHome winsCommon, many games are 0-0 at the break
2/1Away leadsHome winsRare comeback, long odds
1/XHome leadsDrawUncommon
X/XLevelDrawFairly common in tight, low-scoring games
2/XAway leadsDrawUncommon
1/2Home leadsAway winsRare comeback, long odds
X/2LevelAway winsCommon for strong away sides
2/2Away leadsAway winsCommon when a favourite plays away

A useful fact to keep in mind: a large share of matches are level at half time, often 0-0. That is why the "X/" outcomes appear so often and why X/1 or X/2 can sometimes carry better value than 1/1 or 2/2 on a favourite.

How we pick an HT/FT bet

A normal match prediction asks "who is better?". An HT/FT prediction asks a second question: "when does that superiority show?". So on top of form, chance quality and team news we look at:

  • First-half scoring patterns. Some teams start at full speed; others build slowly and score most of their goals after the break.
  • Substitution impact. A deep bench tends to help a favourite late in games, which favours X/1 or X/2 over 1/1 or 2/2.
  • Opponent style. Teams that defend deep and tire late are the classic setting for a "level then win" outcome.
  • The price on both legs. We estimate the chance of the half time state and of the full time result given that state, multiply them and compare with the odds.

1/2 and 2/1 reversals: the honest picture

Searches like "ht ft 1 2 and 2 1 tips for today" and "fixhtft" lead to groups selling reversal tips at huge odds, sometimes claiming the games are arranged. Treat that as a red flag. Reversals happen, but rarely, and nobody can name them in advance with any reliability. Anyone selling "fixed" HT/FT games is running a scam, and match fixing is a crime in any case. We do not post reversal picks as a routine product.

HT/FT versus correct score at half time

Some punters prefer a half time correct score bet, for example 0-0 at half time. It is simpler than HT/FT because it covers only the first 45 minutes, but the outcome set is narrower. Our correct score page covers full time scores; for draws at either stage see the draw predictions.

Staking HT/FT in cedis

HT/FT odds often sit between 3.00 and 6.00 for the realistic outcomes, which means losing runs of five or six in a row are normal. Use half a unit. If your normal stake is GHS 10, put GHS 5 on an HT/FT pick, and never add one to a long accumulator, where it turns a slip into a lottery ticket.

Placing an HT/FT pick

  1. Log in to a licensed bookmaker and top up with Telecel Cash, AT Money or MTN MoMo.
  2. Open the match and look for "Half Time/Full Time" in the market list; on some apps it hides under a "More" or "Halves" tab.
  3. Select the exact code from our pick, such as X/1.
  4. Check the price, enter the stake and confirm.

Frequent HT/FT mistakes

  • Backing 1/1 on every favourite. Many favourites are level at the break; X/1 can be the better price.
  • Mixing up codes. 2/1 means away leading at half time and home winning, not the other way round.
  • Chasing reversal odds. Long prices are long for a reason.
  • Forgetting that cash-out values swing. A leading half time state does not lock in anything.

Betting is for adults 18+. Keep HT/FT stakes smaller than your normal singles.

Frequently asked questions

What does HT/FT mean in betting?

It stands for half time/full time. You predict the result at the break and the result at the end of the match, and both must be correct for the bet to win.

What does X/1 mean?

The match is level at half time and the home team wins at full time.

Are HT/FT 2/1 tips real?

Reversals do happen but rarely, and no one can identify them in advance reliably. Groups selling arranged 2/1 games are scams.

Does extra time count in HT/FT?

No. Full time means the end of normal time plus stoppage time.
