Mines Game Review: How the Mines Casino Game Works

The Mines game is a casino game played on a grid of hidden tiles: some hide gems, some hide mines. You pick tiles one at a time; each safe tile raises your multiplier, and you can cash out whenever you like. Hit a mine and the stake is gone. Mines sits next to Aviator in many Ghanaian betting app lobbies, most often in the version made by Spribe, though other studios publish their own Mines games.

How to play Mines

  1. Choose a stake in GHS.
  2. Choose how many mines are hidden on the grid (on Spribe's 5 by 5 version, from 1 to 24).
  3. Tap tiles. A gem raises the payout; a mine ends the round.
  4. Press cash out at any time to collect the current multiplier.

There is no time pressure as in Aviator: you decide each step at your own pace. That calm feel is part of the appeal and part of the risk, because each extra tile feels like a small, reasonable step.

Number of mines and payouts

SettingChance of a safe first tilePayout growth
1 mine of 2524 in 25Slow
3 mines of 2522 in 25Moderate
10 mines of 2515 in 25Fast
24 mines of 251 in 25Very large on one tile

The probabilities come straight from the grid. The payout for each step is set slightly below the fair value, which is where the house edge sits. More mines mean bigger jumps and quicker losses; the edge is built in either way.

Versions of Mines

Spribe's Mines is the most common on African sportsbooks, and Spribe publishes its RTP in the game rules. Other providers publish Mines games with different grid sizes, themes and RTPs. Open the info screen on the version you find; do not assume the numbers carry across.

A sensible Mines approach

  • Pick one mine count and one exit point, for example three safe tiles, before you start.
  • Keep stakes flat in cedis.
  • Stop after a fixed number of rounds.
  • Do not "go one more tile" to recover a loss.

Mines predictors and "mines signals"

Sellers of Mines predictors claim to show where the mines are. They cannot: tile positions are generated by the provider, and Spribe's version is provably fair, so the layout is fixed before you tap and verifiable afterwards, but never readable in advance. Any app asking for your betting login to "connect" is a scam.
