The 590 lotto result that most Ghanaians look for is simply the NLA 5/90 draw: five winning numbers from 1 to 90, drawn every day of the week. Private lotto companies sell tickets on these NLA games, so a 5/90 ticket bought from a licensed operator is settled against the official NLA result in the feed below. This page explains how private sellers fit in, what their licence allows and how to avoid unlicensed copies.

The feed lists the latest 5/90 draws with their game name and date. If your ticket names a specific NLA game, such as Fortune Thursday or the morning VAG draw, you can also go straight to that game's page from the NLA results today hub.

Who runs 5/90 lotto in Ghana
The National Lottery Authority runs the national lottery under the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722). It owns the 5/90 games and conducts the draws. Private companies come in at the selling end:
- Lotto Marketing Companies (LMCs) and private lotto operators sell NLA games to the public under an NLA licence, through agents, kiosks and POS terminals.
- Digital retail partners sell NLA 5/90 tickets by USSD and online. KGL Technology retails NLA games digitally under a ten-year deal signed in 2022, a deal that has been publicly debated in Ghana.
- The NLA itself remains responsible for the draw and the official result.
In other words, a licensed private seller is a shop, not a separate lottery. Its tickets are on NLA draws, and the winning numbers are the NLA's.
What an NLA licence does and does not cover
Licences come in different classes. A company licensed to sell through POS terminals is not automatically allowed to sell through a USSD short code or a website, and the NLA has acted when operators crossed that line. The best-known case is Alpha Lotto: in 2021 the NLA shut down Alpha Lotto's short code because its POS licence did not cover short-code play. In a later licensing round the NLA granted licences to 15 private lotto operators, and it has warned that hundreds of illegal operators work outside the system.
We have not verified Alpha Lotto's current licence status, so we do not publish separate "Alpha lotto results". If you hold an Alpha Lotto ticket, ask the seller which NLA game and draw date it is for, and check that draw. If the seller cannot tell you, that is a warning sign.
How to check that a 5/90 seller is licensed
- Ask which NLA game the ticket is on. A licensed seller names the NLA game and draw date on every ticket or receipt.
- Look for the NLA licence. Licensed operators should be able to show their NLA licence and the channels it covers.
- Check the channel. If a POS-only company suddenly offers play by short code or WhatsApp, be careful.
- Compare results. The seller's result should match the NLA's for the same draw. A game with its own private draw and its own numbers is not an NLA 5/90 game.
- Watch how payment works. Paying a private person's MoMo number for a "ticket" is not a licensed sale.
With the NLA moving to fully electronic ticket sales during 2026, licensed operators have had to drop paper tickets. A seller that still pushes handwritten slips deserves extra questions.
Unlicensed 5/90 games and copies
Because 5/90 is so popular, many unlicensed brands copy its look: a catchy name, a WhatsApp number, a results page and a promise of quick payment. Some run their own private "draws" with numbers nobody can verify. If something goes wrong, you have no regulator to complain to and no Prize Payment Centre to claim from. If a game is not clearly an NLA-licensed product, the safest choice is not to play it.
5/90 rules in brief
Whatever the seller, the game is the same: five numbers drawn from 1 to 90, fixed odds set by the NLA for each bet type, and the familiar Direct, Perm and Banker tickets. The chance that any single number you pick appears among the five is 1 in 18; for two chosen numbers together it is about 1 in 400. The full ticket guide is on our lotto hub, and the honest view on forecasts is on our lotto predictions page.
Claiming a 5/90 win from a private seller
Small wins are normally paid by the seller or credited to the wallet you used, such as MTN MoMo or Telecel Cash. Larger wins on NLA games go through NLA validation and are paid at the NLA's Prize Payment Centres at its head and regional offices. Keep the original ticket or the digital receipt, bring your Ghana Card, and expect a check before payment. If a private seller refuses to pay a valid win on an NLA game, you can raise it with the NLA.
All 5/90 games are for adults 18+. Track what you spend, and if lotto starts to feel like a way to fix money problems, see our responsible gambling page.
Frequently asked questions
Is 590 lotto the same as NLA lotto?
Yes, when it is sold by a licensed operator. 5/90 is the NLA game format, and licensed private companies sell tickets on NLA draws, which are settled against the official NLA result.
Where can I find Alpha lotto results?
We do not publish separate Alpha Lotto results because we have not verified its current licence status. Ask the seller which NLA game and draw your ticket is for, then check that NLA draw.
How many private lotto operators does the NLA license?
In one licensing round the NLA granted licences to 15 private lotto operators. The number can change, so check NLA announcements for the current list.
What happens if I play an unlicensed 5/90 game?
You have no regulator or official claims process if the seller does not pay. The NLA has warned that many illegal operators exist, so play only NLA-licensed games.
