Tamale: NPP youth up in arms against NPP executives over appointment of MMDCEs

The Concern Youth Groups (CYG) of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the  Northern Region have accused regional executives of the party over attempts to change a list submitted to the Jubilee House by the Vetting Committee for appointment as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

The Group vowed to resist any attempt by the regional party executives led by its Chairman, Mohammed Hafiz Adam Samba to have its preferred candidates for the various positions.

According to the Group at a press conference in Tamale on Monday, 7th June, said they have information that some persons at the Jubilee House are aiding them [regional executives] to change the “original” list.

“Authentic information reaching us from the Flagstaff house had it that the NPP northern regional executives led by chairman Samba have replaced majority of MMDCE’S applicants names which were selected by the region’s MMDCE’S vetting committee with their prefer candidates.

It continued “We are astonished that despite the effective and orderly manner with which the vetting committee did it work, the northern regional executives still went ahead to form a cabal to manipulate the process in order to deceive the president and the vice president to give MMDCE’S positions to people they have utmost control over.”

They have therefore advice the unseen hands at the Jubilee House allegedly involved in the manipulation of the said list to stay off and rather concentrate on helping President Akufo-Addo execute his programmes for his second term.

However, the CYG have also vow to not sit aloof and allow the regional executives bring shame to the NPP  government in the region.

“To conclude, we are sending yet another strong warning to the northern regional executives that we will not seat aloof to watch the president and the NPP government disgrace in the region anymore. We are ready to preserve the little credibility left of the government and the party in the region.

“We will not support the rejection of any of the president’s MMDCE’S nominees to the region especially Tamale Metro but let it be made clear that we will resist any attempt by the regional executives to manipulate the process leading to the selection of MMDCE’S for the region,” the CYG added.
