I cried not out of joy but shattered tears of broken heart – Optional King

Rapper CF Optional King has opened up on why he shed tear after being declared ultimate winner of the TV Mentor Reloaded competition on 23rd February, 2020.

Born Mohammed Lukman, Optional King, his stage name was adjudged the winner of a two bedroom house in Accra and a record deal ahead of Fante rap sensation Chi-Chiz.

The Daranaaya hitmaker after being declared winner was spotted on stage at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) shedding what many obviously thought were “Tears of Joy”.

However, in a recent interview on Sports24 Show Thursday, June 4 with kweku oduro monitored by tamaleonline.net, Optional king confesses those tears weren’t what many would imagine it to be.

According to him, he had mixed emotions and tears dropped as he recollecteted the promise he made to his late father with regards to giving the family a better life through his musical career and promising to win the overall price (2 bedroom apartment) and other prizes, which his father questioned and doubted.

According to him, “I’d wished my father was alive to see for himself the achievement I promised to deliver.”

It would be recalled Optional King lost his father few days to the grand finale of the musical contest.

The rapper had to rush back home (Tamale) for the burial and funeral rites before returning to Accra for the final show down.
