The former Parliamentary Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) for Kumbungu in the 2020 elections has joined the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Nabila Alhassan Basiru in March 2021 resigned from the CPP four months after Dr Hamza Adam defeat him and two other candidates to retain the seat for the NDC.
Dr Hamza won the seat with 22,263 votes while Nabila Basiru came last after managing to poll 795 votes.
The former National Youth Organizer at the time did not state reasons for his departure but thanked the rank and file of the CPP for giving the opportunity to serve in various capacities over the years.
According to him, he was leaving to make tome for his family and concentrate on his personal growth indicating he’ll make public his next political step in due time.
But announcing his decision to join the NPP in a statement on Thursday, 17th June, Mr Nabila Yakubu said he shall henceforth, speak, defend and discharge all political activities in line with the constitution of the elephant fraternity.
“Today 17th June, 2021 which happened to be my BIRTHDATE and a day I promised to announce to you all my next political direction, I wish to kindly inform you all that, I will be joining THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY (NPP) to start a new political life. I shall by today and future defend, speak, discharge my political activities in line with the constitution of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” Mr Basiru stated.
However, Mr Alhassan Basiru cautioned his political opponents and others who maybe against his move not abuse him.
He also revealed taking time to study the NPP’s constitution and ideology in order to fully equip himself to serve the party.
“Family and friends I will be taking sometime to study the constitution of the party, the ideology of the party, the communication principles and guidelines of the party to get myself equipped well.
“I shall be serving my new party with all the honesty and loyalty, and I will do my very best to guide the reputation of the party. God the Almighty help me with more wisdom, knowledge and the care to serve my party and mother Ghana” he concluded.
