Coronavirus: REGSEC bans prostitution in Tamale

The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has placed a ban on prostitution in the region and it’s related activities with immediate effect.

This comes after some 10 alleged sex workers from Guinea tested positive for the Coronavirus in Tamale.

The directive includes all local brothel operators to shutdown their activities as part of measures to combat the spread of the virus.

The RESEC in a statement signed by the Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Saeed said the recent reported 10 cases of the virus is a wake up call for all to abide by directives to stop the spread of the Covid-19.

According to REGSEC, the decision had become necessary to protect the lives of everyone against the virus.

“Those involved in the practice and its related activities within the region are therefore advised to seize any engagement in those acts, forthwith,”

the statement intimated.

it added those who defy this directive will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the Laws of the Republic and urged the public to report case of such to the appropriate authorities.
