Coronavirus: Akufo-Addo ordered close down of Schools, Conferences, Workshops suspended

President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has announced directed the indefinite closed down of both public and private universities, Senior High Schools and Basic Schools after the country has recorded six cases of the deadly Covid-19 virus.

The President made announcement as part of measures to prevent the spread of the virus in an address to the nation Sunday night.

President Akuffo-Addo also ordered for the suspension of all Conferences, workshops, religious activities, sports and other social activities for the next four weeks (one month).

However, final year students who will be sit for BECE and WASSCE have been exempted and will go ahead will classes ahead of the final exams.

The President has therefore directed the Ministrybof Education and Ghana Education Service (GES) to roll out a distance learning programs for the affected students.

He assured “Government is doing all it can to ensure the safety of the citizenry.”

Meanwhile, the President Akuffo-Addo urged shopping malls and market centers to employ all the necessary safety precautionary measures against the coronavirus.
