Black Stars begin AFCON 2022 campaign with defeat to Morocco

Ghana begun its journey to end a 40-years AFCON drought with a 0 – 1 defeat to Morocco in a group C encounter at the Ahmaduo Ahidjo Stadium in Cameroon Monday evening.

Winger Sofiane Boufa found the back of the net to secure all three points for the North Africans in the 83rd minutes from a defensive blander on the part of the Black Stars.

Ghana missed a couple of chances at goal forcing Coach Milovan Rajivac to bring in youngsters Abdul Fatawu Issahaku for Joseph Painstil in the 86th minute.

Benjamin Tetteh replaced Crystal Palace’s Jordan as Denial Kofi Kyereh came in for Kamaldeen Suleman as the Stars push for an equalizer.

Unfortunately that couldn’t be as the West African side failed to cause any major harm penetrating through a solid defensive end of the Moroccans.

However, the Atlas Lions sit top of Group C with 3 points as Comoros take on Gabon who have some players including captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang testing positive for COVID-19.
