A/R: Muslims urged to observe Eid at home

The Asokori-Mampong Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region, has admonished the Muslim Community in the municipality to adhere to restrictions on Covid-19 ahead of Eidul-Fitir celebrations over the weekend.

Other activities such as “Gangara” (Street Possession) and floating have also been banned.

The Muslim dominated municipality with communities such as Abaobo, Asawasi, Sanbon Zongo, Sawaba, Boubai amongst others is usually filled with fun filled activities during the festive occasion.

The Assembly in a statement says the ban on public gathering including religious activities remain in full force and has urged the public to comply with the regulations put in place by government to contain the spread of the virus.

According to the Assembly, the congregational Eid prayers in smaller or large groups during the celebration.

“No individual or group of people should join others in their homes to observe any form of prayers before, during or atter Eid. All persons should observe thieir prayers in their individual homes.”

The public is also reminded wearing if face mask remains mandatory and must be observed as such.
