Minister Hands Over Site For Tamale Airport Phase 2 Project
The Deputy Minister for Aviation, Yaw Afful, has handed over the site for the construction of the phase two of the Tamale International Airport to the QG Construction UK Limited for work to begin.
The phase two of the airport will consist of a modular airport terminal building of approximately 5,000 square metres, construction of a Hajj facility of approximately 1,000m2; construction of a single carriageway access road; construction of landside and airside infrastructure adapted to the terminal size; and construction of water, power and sewerage infrastructure deemed necessary for normal operations.
The phase two of the Tamale Airport project is estimated at a cost of $70 million, and expected to be completed in thirty (30) months.
The Deputy minister told journalists that an 8km road will be constructed to link Tamale to Bolgatanga.
“As part of the presidents vision of making Ghana the aviation hub, we cannot have a hub without linking to other regions,” he said.
The deputy minister stated that the phase two project will provide skilled and unskilled jobs for residents of Tamale and its environs.
